If the 2700 is like the 4700 do this: Remove the foil & cutters. Remove the 4 screws in each corner. While depressing the buttons to remove the foil lift up on be part you removed the screws from. Now remove the hair from below the sliding rails of the trimmer. I made a little hook out of #24 solid wire. After you get the hair out the cutter will latch down. When reinstalling the part you removed be sure to orient the motor shaft front to back. Replace the part install the 4 screws, cutters and foil, that's it.

Thank you for your message regarding your Remington Product. The reason the trimmer will not stay down is due to a buildup of hair in that area where it "catches". What we suggest you do is purchase a can of aerosol "air"(the type of spray air in a pressurized can you that you use to clean out computer keyboards, etc.) and try to blast that area to remove the hairs that have built up. If this does not work, you do have a two year warranty (from the date of the receipt) for your shaver. If the unit has been purchased within the last two years, you can send it back to us for replacement. Just include a copy of your receipt and send this to:
Spectrum Brands 507 Stokely Dr PO Box 1 Deforest WI 53532
Make sure to include a letter on the inside of the package with your name, address, phone and the reason for the return. We suggest that you send the package in a traceable manner either through UPS with a tracking number or with a delivery confirmation through the Post Office.
They don't bother to sell parts. Buy a new one and throw yours away.
