Curling Iron

I have purchased the above iron and very happy with the product. I am experiencing problems as the curls do not curl in the same direction when doing the opposite side. Is there a trick to this? I have watched the video. One side of the curls is curled out and the other curls in.

Use the other hand, initially that bothered me too, but after doing both sides, I thought it looked fine.
