Can I use a hair removal cream before using the ilight?

Shaving of any sorts gives me a rash, and I know we shouldn't wax, but could I use a hair removal cream first if I then make sure it is clean and dry before treatment

Question

Not quite sure if my skin color is compatible with the machine. Tan with black hair

My skin color is tan I have compared it to the skin tone chart that you have. Doesn't fall on any of the hues. I have been holding back in purchasing this for months. Is there anyway I could know if this will suit for my skin color before I purchase this item?

If youe skin is tan then you should be able to use the unit. When you compare your skin to the chart as long as it isn't darker than the okay colors then you are good.

If you purchase the unit and you are too dark there is a 90 day money back guarantee.

Question

Transition from Epilation

Hi there,
I have been epilating my legs for approximately 8 years now and am worried about shaving between IPL treatments as when I shave the hairs quickly become thicker and darker again when it has taken a long time for them to become finer (although unfortunately still too dark and thick to leave as they are which is why I have bought the Remington iLight!). Is there anything you recommend when transitioning from frequent epilation to IPL or anything besides shaving before or between treatments you can suggest?
Thanks.

You must wait 6 weeks after epilating before you use the IPL.

You really do want to shave only because the light absorbs into the hair foliicle, so if you epilate the follicle is gone.

Within the clinical studies we have conducted, we only tested the device on adults, 18+ years old. So our FDA clearance is for adults only. Although we are unaware of any issues caused by using the device with minors, we are not allowed to recommend treatment. We suggest you consult your physician.

Question

You say the iLight is not FDA approved for back use. Are you working with the FDA to resolve this issue? What happens when I use it on my back?

It does not make sense back use is not approved. What is the exact science behind this prohibition? What are the consequences since I am sure many people are using thiis item on their backs. When will you have this issue resolved?

The issue is with the location of the back. The iLIGHT is FDA cleared for self treatment. Since a person is not able to self treat the back area, it's not included in the indication of treatment sites from the FDA. So although we are aware of no issues with this treatment site we can't advise to treat the back.

Question

Does i-light pro ILP6500 work on ingrown hairs on legs

I am of a mixed skin tone and have jet black hair, although my skin in very light. I have dark spots (ingrown hairs) all over my upper and lower legs.

i was told that IPL will work to get rid of the hairs trapped under my skin. whilst I understand that IPL destroys active hairs at the root, will the i-light device work on my skin as I have that many ingrown hairs on my leg and can not remove hairs before treating as they get trapped under my skin.

The results that i'm hoping for is that the ingrown hairs will come out of the skin or disappear. will this device work.

Hello Cindy,

You’re right! IPL technology works by stopping hair where it grows when they are in their growth phase. Typically, hairs become ingrown because they are curly and start curling before they reach the skin surface. (So they curl under the skin) Although we are not contraindicated to treat ingrown hairs, we have not performed any testing in this situation. So unfortunately, we cannot tell you to treat your ingrown hairs but we are unaware of any negative side effects.

Friends in your hair free endeavor,
Remington
